Save the Tigers

Hey guys!
So one of my Computer technology assignments was to find a topic for a "Save the {insert word here}" campaign and do research and make a presentation.... I chose Tigers. I honestly had no idea how badly they were endangered until I started to do some research.

There are as few as 3,200 - 1,411 tigers left in the whole world today.



Tigers usually weigh around 657 lb when they are fully grown.







There are tons of different reason the Tiger are becoming extinct like deforestation. But there are really big problem that are happening right now. While you are reading this, Tigers are being illegally bred in China to satisfy the need for the delicacy. If you have ever seen pictures of dog marts and restaurants in China, it's a lot like that.

 
Tigers are being illegally hunted  and trapped by poachers and skin trades. There are tons of sad stories about a tiger or a cheetah that, having been trapped in a poachers snare, was rescued by a wildlife organization, it's wounds taken care of, and taking a couple months to heal before being released back into the wild just to be captured by poachers a few weeks later.
 Animal skins are very valuable in some places of the world, and with the diminishing 
 number of big cats, the price is rising. 

As you can see, by the year 2020 there probably won't be any tigers left, beside (maybe) a very few privately owned ones.  

Tigers once dominated the world and now there are more privately owned tigers in America then in the actual wildlife.

Panthera is an organization that focuses on saving the big cats of the world. Their goals are saving tigers, cheetahs, lions, every other big cat in the world, whether they are endangered or not.

Attack on Titan. TV to the Big screen.

If you guys watch Attack on Titan.. we are now considered best friends.

If you are going to watch just one anime in your life.. make it Attack on Titan. It's worth it.

The story of Attack on Titan centers around the adventures of Eren Yeager, his adopted sister, Mikasa Ackerman, and their childhood friend, Armin Arlert.

 After the wall which protects their hometown of Shiganshina is breached by Titans, Eren watches in horror as one of them eats his mother. Vowing to kill all Titans, Eren enlists in the military, along with his friends.

Five years later, the three cadet graduates are positioned in Trost District, one of the border towns jutting out of Wall Rose, when the Titans attack again. In the ensuing battle, Eren is eaten by one of the Titans before Armin's eyes.

 A Titan later appears and begins fighting the other Titans while ignoring humans; the Titan is revealed to be Eren, who has developed the ability to transform into one. Though he is seen as a threat by some, he helps the military take back Trost District. After being placed on trial for being a danger to the humans, he is taken in by the Survey Corps' Special Operations Squad, led by Captain Levi.

In an expedition to Shinganshina, the Scouts are attacked by a Female Titan who attempts to capture Eren. Although the Scouts are able to briefly capture the Female Titan, she breaks free and devastates Levi's squad, forcing the expedition to retreat. Armin determines that the Female Titan is Annie, one of the cadets who taught Eren to fight, and devises a plan to capture her at Stohess.

Others are discovered to be able to transform into Titans, with several seeking Eren for some unknown purpose which they refer to as the Coordinate. The Walls themselves seem to be hiding something from the populace as shown by the fact that Titans make up the walls. As is the royal family and the Military Police who also need Eren to keep him from causing an uprising, as well as his friend Krista Lenz, who is really named Historia and is next in line to the throne.

The Survey Corps, seeing the turmoil and decadence caused by the power behind the figurehead king, the Reiss Family, decide to mount a rebellion and use Eren and Historia as bait. The rebellion is successful but Rod Reiss, the current king, captures Eren and Historia. Rod reveals that a Titan, an ancestor of the Reiss bloodline, was the one who created the walls 100 years ago and used its power to modify humanity's memories with only the Ackerman bloodline and the recently near extinct Asian ethnicity immune to the effect and ostracized as a result. Revealing that the Coordinate which the Reiss Family guard for generations was stolen by Eren's father Grinsha, who is the one who turned Eren into a Titan to obtain the power by devouring him, Rod intended to have Historia consume Eren as a Titan to restore the status quo.

 However, remembering Frieda and Ymir, Historia refuses to aid her father's scheme and frees Eren. This forces a devastated Rod to take the serum and become an Original Titan himself as Eren's friends arrive to save him and Historia. After Mikasa and Historia snap him out of his conflict to fight, Eren resolves to fight Rod as he is now consumed by an impulse to wipe out humanity.

Winter Soldier arm tutorial

Hello my lovlies!!
Captain America: The Winter Soldier was a fantabulous movie!! Wasn't it? Who didn't wish to have Cap's shield or Bucky's arm or Falcon's wings?!?! 

Well.... here is the tutorial for Bucky's metal arm!!!!
I'm planning to make all three (like professional cosplay made) sometime in the future.... but I decided today to just stop procrastinating and sit my butt down, and at the very least, plan out how I'm going to make the arm. Being a teenager with school and no job I needed to think of a way to make this without having to break into my saving account! ;)


I figured the easiest way to get the basic shape of my arm (without having to buy foam or plaster), was to make a pattern.... some of your guy's might have boxes of patterns down in the basement from back when your mum used to sew. No? That's okay.. it's really easy to make one :)

Just wrap paper around your arm,and tape!!

Here is the bicep/shoulder piece. For me it took two pieces to make this. You can use as many pieces as you want though... there is no limit!!

 

You want it to be able to reach all the way around your arm and tape together. The second piece makes it so it is a little bit longer and reaches from the top of your shoulder to your elbow. You want it lose enough that you can pull it off of your arm like a glove. Trim the top so it's a rounder shape to match the shape of your shoulder.

Here is it on:

You don't want the inside part too high that it gives your underarm paper cuts

But you DO want the outside to be a little higher than the top of your shoulder.

So it kinda make a spoon-resembling shape...

Next you need to make an elbow piece:

 (Yes... that is a picture of Batman wearing a princess dress... my best friend gave it to me don't judge!)

 It's a diamond shape folded in half and taped. Super easy. :)

You want where the points meet to be on the inside of your elbow. Make sure that you made the diamond big enough that it reaches both your forearm and bicep. Again.. make sure it is lose enough to slip on and off your arm.

The forearm is kind of tricky :)

This can take 1 to 3 pieces depending on how you do it and how big or small your arm is.

 Because if you look at your arm... the end by the wrist is smaller and the end by you elbow is bigger... This is going to make it hard to slide on and off... 

(Look! You can see my sister coming to ask if she can have some of my food!)

Tape it to desired size and mark where the paper aligns. Use as many pieces of tape as you need to make it feel right :)

When you are all done taping, carefully pull the tape off, take it off your arm, and place the tape in the exact same spot....

When you are done taping all three pieces, Go back and tape over all of the seams (So there is no places where the tape could come undone).

Make sure it all fits the way you want it too and VWAA-LAA!

(Yup.. just created a new language peeps)

Anyway... I hope this helps or gives you an idea on how to start your own arm!!

The next step will have how to build the hard shape and flexibility!!

The Giver Discussion Questions.

Hi everybody!! Having just seen the new Giver movie that came out ://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJNNugNe0Wo I decided to make a few book discussion questions.

1. Do you agree with the way the community was controlled? What is your ideal world? How would you create it and Why?

2. How do you think you personally would have handled the memories and the emotions Jonas received.

3. Would you have kept secret about the memories you gained, or would you have tried to share them with people you knew?

4. If you were the Giver would you have left with Jonas? Left the community to sort it's own problems out? Or would you have stayed to help them through the pain and flood of new emotion.

5. Do you think it was the best/right thing to subdue the 'stirrings'? What do you think the outcome would have been if people didn't have to take the pills?
